Reviewers Wanted!

Credit: Kriss Szkurlatowski -via sxc.hu

We are looking for writers who are capable of writing thoughtful reviews from a distinctively Christian perspective, who would be interested in reviewing 1-4 books per year.  We would work with you to determine deadlines and to decide on a book-by-book basis whether we could use a feature review (800-1200 words) or a brief review (300-600  words).  We have an email list for our reviewers, to which we send a list of titles for possible review every 2-3 weeks.  Writers on this list are under no obligation to review anything, and can request to be removed at any time.

We are not currently able to pay for these reviews, but you will usually receive a complimentary copy of the book to be reviewed.  Typically, as we make assignments for our print edition, we draw upon reviewers who are already on our email list.

Participating in our reviewer community is not only a great way to get writing experience, but you also will get to get the very first look at titles of excellent books that are coming out.

Anyone interested should  contact us: e d i t o r { a t } e n g l e w o o d r e v i e w [ d o t ] o r g .  Please send a couple of sentences telling about yourself, two or three categories of books that you would particularly like to review (fiction, poetry, history, cultural criticism, etc.), the two or three best books that you’ve read in the last year and, if possible, two brief samples of your writing (preferably book reviews).

I enjoyed the post very much; thank you. I have been looking for just such an opportunity to expand my writing experience and I will be sending out the requisite email “application” to write reviews for you. I have published articles in various print and computer media and write a blog closetotheroot.blogspot.com alongside being a spiritual director and urban farmer. Again, thank you for posting about this, and expect to hear more from me shortly.
