Rebuild the Barr family library!
Some of our readers and Ekklesia Project friends will remember Jason (a seminarian at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, IN) and Gretchen Barr from their participation in the E.P. gatherings and other conferences. Well, over the weekend we got word that their apartment building burnt down. Thankfully, Jason and Gretchen were out of town and were not hurt, but they have lost all their possessions except what they took with them to Southern Indiana. You can read the latest from Jason here.
If you would like to help the Barrs, we suggest two ways:
1) You can make a donation directly to them. CLICK HERE.
2) I suppose that many of us can imagine the tragedy of losing the vast majority of our favorite and most useful books. So, we at the Englewood Review are endeavoring to help the Barrs replace many of their favorite books. Jason will be providing a list and we’ll start from there. We are collecting monetary donations (though if some of our publishing friends wanted to donate some books from their presses…Jon, Rodney… I’m sure those would be welcome too), and will buy the books at cost (with our retailer discount) and collect and ship them to the Barrs. We will be donating a bunch of books from our bookstore, as well as our time in coordinating this effort.
Donations to the Barr library fund will go to the non-profit Englewood Community Development Corp, every penny donated will go to purchasing and shipping books.
