Poem: Easter Ode to the Mad Farmer – Kevin Book-Satterlee [Vol. 3, #12]

Easter Ode
to the Mad Farmer
By Kevin Book-Satterlee

The Mad Farmer
Taught us to practice resurrection,

Live the ideals of renewal,

Seek the liberation of the day,

And love;

Live with open hands,

Redeem paychecks to buy seeds;

Plant some trees,

So that our offspring can breathe again;

Cultivate the revolution,

The insurrection resurrection;

Pacify the violent;

Turn over the soil;

Plant an urban garden in Camden;

Pick up trash in the park;

Recycle;
Let all see the necessary steps

To redeem the earth;

Practice the ritual of spilt blood

By sipping down the wine shot,

And remembering;

Consume the bread of the eternal,

Knowing that such a morsel

Surpasses most of the world eats;

Take the loaf and share it globally;

Shake hands and cry with the drunkard;

Visit the prisoner and laugh.

Remember the plowman’s didactic words;

Abolish the wicked’s regrettable direction;

And practice resurrection.
