New Book Releases – Week of 3 September 2012
Here are a few new book releases this week that are worth checking out:
(This list is a couple of days late due to the Labor Day Holiday…)
This week’s most anticipated release is Tim Keller‘s new book, Center Church: Doing Balanced, Gospel-Centered Ministry in Your City. The publisher has described this volume: “Many pastors struggle to translate their theological beliefs into fruitful ministry in the places they are called to reach. It’s not enough to simply know what to believe (theology) or, on the other hand, how to do ministry (methodology)—they need something in between. They need help thinking about ministry in a culture that no longer believes Christianity is a force for good, let alone the source of ultimate revealed truth in the person of Christ. Center Church, a collection of twelve essays by Timothy Keller, outlines a theological vision for ministry that is organized around three core commitments: 1) Gospel-centered 2) City-centered and 3) Movement-centered”

We are very intrigued by the late Christopher Hitchens‘ new book Mortality. What would an adamant atheist say as he faces death? The Washington Post says of the book: “Among the many things that made Hitchens unique was his precision of thought and expression. What made him rare were his courage and tenacity. He was fearless in the field and relentless in his defense of the defenseless with that mightiest of swords–his pen. Judging from his final essays, he was also fearless in the face of death.”
Hardback: Twelve.
