George Macdonald – A Hidden Life: Poems – eBook [Freebie of the Week]

George MacdonaldGeorge Macdonald was a Scottish writer and minister,

who influenced the work of many familiar authors from Lewis Carroll (if it were not for Macdonald, Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland books might never have seen the light of day), to G.K. Chesterton to W.H. Auden and especially C.S. Lewis. Lewis wrote of Macdonald’s heralded novel Phantastes that: “What it actually did to me was to convert, even to baptise … my imagination.”

Macdonald is probably known best for his fantasy novels Phantastes and Lilith and his fairy stories.  He also wrote many Scottish novels that are not only set in Scotland but feature the local dialect of  his day throughout, as well as poetry and sermons.

We are pleased today to offer a collection of George Macdonald’s poetry, A Hidden Life and Other Poems.
